I figured, I have 14 days to decide. If I didn't like it, I was going to go with the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch (whew long name, marketing name fail).
Anyways, I switched to the iPhone 4S, and had some initial trouble w/ the 3G data speed being horribly slow, but a Sprint rep fixed something w/ the network settings on my account, and I was set.
The immediate difference I noticed was how FLUID everything was for the animation. The herky-jerky animation on my EVO drove me nuts even with various different custom ROMs I had on there. Yeah, I'm borderline perfectionistic about that.
Anyways, I'm not going to write a super long article, but here is the quick low-down of why I like the iPhone more than my EVO, and Android in general:
iPhone pros:
1. Simple, easy to use, doesn't crash - I had to reboot once in about 5 months. Seriously. Yeah, pressing the Home button every time seems a little lame, but it's simple.
2. Well-built - High quality stuff. Not plastic.
3. Very good display - Yes, Retina display is awesome
4. Lots of great quality apps - just compare an ebay or craigslist app from iOS to Android.
5. Amazingly good camera and video cam - The camera is as awesome as advertised. Fast snap shots, clear, even in low light.
6. I like how it manages music - very simple and fast.
7. Graphic transitions are very fluid. Just try to send one photo via email - the transition of how the photo falls into your Mail app is just so smooth.
8. Battery life is amazing. I never stress about it. 7am to 11pm easily with the same usage as on my EVO. On my EVO I had to constantly manage the tweaking of settings to even try to get close to that.
Cons:
1. No LED light - you don't know if you have a missed text or email if you weren't there to see the display turn on when it was received. You have to turn the phone on constantly to see if you missed something. Drives me nuts sometimes.
2. Screen is a bit too small for my taste. I think 4" is going to be perfect. (Hoping for this in the iPhone 5)
3. You can't upload and change ringtones to whatever you want unless you jailbreak (which I did). Pretty lame.
4. No fast access to settings widgets. Try turning off bluetooth (but I have fixed that via jailbreak. I have a Siri mod that you can say "turn off bluetooth" and it does).
You Android fans may say I have gone to the dark side, but honestly, I'm just happy that I actually spend less time tweaking my phone, as opposed to just using it. The main things I need it to do (take good pics, browse the web, make phone calls, not lag) it does very very well. I see what it's such a hot selling device now.
